Spend the day outdoors, discover the neighbourhood’s vibrant culture and indulge in some seriously good food, all within a few kilometres of each other.
Stroll along Promenade Wellington in Verdun
Kick off your tour on Promenade Wellington. This charming street in Verdun is chock full of cool spots and well-kept secrets (though, not as many as before!). Be sure to stop by the magnificent Harricana par Mariouche boutique, pioneer in recycled fur fashion since 1983. Then, sip a delicious glass of natural wine at Verdun Beach and enjoy seasonal dishes before heading off to supper at one of Verdun’s many fabulous restaurants, including Beba, Street Monkeys, Welldun Pizza, Janine Café, Rita, Le Godot and Archway.
Explore along the Lachine Canal and discover the Quartiers du Canal
Continue your adventure through Quartiers du Canal, home to three of Montréal’s historic districts: Griffintown, Little Burgundy and Saint-Henri. At the Biodôme, you can embark on an enthralling trip through the ecosystems of the Americas that includes the tropical forest, Laurentian sugarbush, Gulf of St. Lawrence, Labrador coasts and the subantarctic islands. Be sure to also visit the Insectarium and the Planétarium.
Where to eat and grab a drink in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve
Hochelaga-Maisonneuve explodes with great places restaurants and bars. Some outstanding options in and around the Angus district include Hoogan et Beaufort, Annette bar à vin, Terroirs Angus and La Part des Anges.
Further into the neighbourhood, settle in for a meal at Cabotins, Rose Ross, , Porte à Côté, Labarake Caserne à manger, Motel Ontario, Les Canailles or Bagatelle Bistro. For a more elevated dining experience, Hélicoptère and État-Major are excellent choices, while Heirloom pizzeria offers a more laid-back option.
Before leaving, take a spin over to Marché Maisonneuve, one of Montréal’s iconic public markets in the east end of the island, and pick up an array of local products.
