Get inspired by our lists built around a theme, and experience Montréal to the hilt.
The Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MAC) is not your run-of-the-mill museum: it strays (sometimes way) off the beaten path to open up new perspectives, disrupt the status quo and ultimately, make today's art a vital part of Montréal and Québec life.
Located in the Quartier des spectacles, the MAC is a pivotal contemporary art platform that highlights the most current, relevant, and varied avenues of contemporary art. Every form of expression is showcased: digital and sound works, installations, paintings, sculptures, ephemeral pieces and more.
For over 50 years, this vibrant museum has brought together local and international artists, their works and an ever growing public. The MAC presents temporary exhibitions devoted to outstanding modern artists who provide their own particular insight into our society, as well as exhibitions of works drawn from the museum's extensive collection (of more than 8,000 works).
Here, Québec, Canadian and international artists take centre stage with exhibitions ranging from major video installations to stylized contemporary paintings to extraordinary audiovisual experiences to performance art. A full program of educational activities complements a roster of unique artistic performances and festive events.
The MAC’s prime downtown location and exceptional setting make it a popular venue for prestigious events, including media gatherings, cocktail receptions and galas.
