Here in Montréal, our love of hockey is the stuff of lore. Our iconic team, the Montréal Canadiens or “Habs” (from the French Les Habitants) boasts some pretty impressive cred: Founded in 1909, it is one of the six original and longest-active teams in the National Hockey League and in the world, plus it has won the Stanley Cup a cool 24 times, making it the most decorated team in the NHL and professional hockey. It even held bragging rights to the Stanley Cup for five consecutive years, from 1956 to 1960!
Snagging a seat to a Habs game means that you get to enjoy a fan experience and ambiance unmatched in ardour (stats show that nearly one million spectators show up to home games annually).
Want to dive deeper? Take a guided tour of the Bell Centre. You’ll learn about the history and heritage of excellence that has been passed down by the club for over 100 years. For even more pre- or post-game magic, be sure to check out the Place du Centenaire, where you’ll find sculptures of Howie Morenz, Maurice “Rocket” Richard, Jean Béliveau and Guy Lafleur—four Habs hockey greats who were true game-changers.
