Celebrate Montréal’s first Urban Agriculture Week with Fermes en Ville

Montréal is home to 70 urban farms that grow everything from herbs and microgreens to a large variety of vegetables, fruit, mushrooms, and even fish. From September 2 to 7, the Fermes en ville will showcase everything that grows in Montréal, connecting farms and food entrepreneurs, and demonstrating that the urban agriculture industry is an economic, gourmet and supportive of the city's ecological transition.
On the menu of this first edition of the Urban Agriculture Week is a Solidarity Banquet, Gourmet Showcases in a dozen restaurants across the city, neighbourhood parties and exclusive farm visits.
Solidarity Banquet
The Louvain Prairie is a lush green expanse tucked between buildings, where native plants transform the area into an immense urban garden. On September 2, the Louvain Esplanade will host the Solidarity Banquet, a feast prepared by chef Marc-André Royal of Le St-Urbain. Every ingredient on the 3-course menu is sourced from local urban farms, all located within 3km of the table. Diners will enjoy a front row experience to Montréal’s thriving urban agriculture, while directly supporting the community.
Tickets are $90 per person, including the full meal as well as a complimentary visit of the Louvain Prairies gardens. Get 30 % off when you use the code "TM30".
Gourmet Showcases
Several chefs and restaurants across Montréal are participating in the Gourmet Showcases initiative on September 5 and 6 by creating one or more exclusive dishes made from ingredients grown in Montréal. This initiative is the meeting between Montréal chefs and urban agriculture products.
Open House on the Farms
On Sunday, September 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as part of the Portes ouvertes Mangeons local initiative, sixty province-wide farms will open their doors to the public, including 4 Montréal urban farms. This is a very rare opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in urban agriculture and sustainable food production and explore rarely seen sites such as rooftop farms and social-mission gardens.
In Montréal, visitors can discover the vegetable farm on the rooftop of the Palais des congrès de Montréal, the rooftop vegetable garden at Esplanade Tranquille, La Centrale Agricole and its participating members, and the social farm Le Jardin des Orioles.
Space is limited so reserve your spot here.
