Summer, winter, spring or fall: no matter the season, picturesque Parc La Fontaine offers a respite from the urban hullabaloo with its charming landscape, flora and fauna, facilities and recreation possibilities.
Originally a farm, this wonderful patch of green space surrounded by trendy bars and restaurants in the middle of the Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood was transformed into a public park in the 1870s. Since then, Parc La Fontaine has served as a community gathering place for people to socialize, appreciate nature, partake in leisurely pursuits and just fully enjoy Montréal’s bohemian vibe.
In the summer, there’s no better place to kick back and read a book in the shade of a towering tree, sunbathe, have a picnic, play tennis or petanque, stroll along the pathways or catch a show at the outdoor Théâtre de Verdure. Come winter, skaters happily glide across the frozen pond to music while snowshoers and cross-country skiers take to the snowy paths.
For a snack, 5 à 7 or weekend brunch, the relaxing and beautiful Espace La Fontaine cultural bistro in the park offers a diverse menu of healthy meals in addition to presenting exhibitions by local artists, original shows, and entertainment for the whole family.
