Saint-Denis Street – from Viger Square to Saint-Louis Square

Saint-Denis Street, the Quartier latin’s major thoroughfare, runs from Old Montréal, near the recently redeveloped and expansive Square Viger, where you can find the Jean-Olivier monument, a park pavilion, the pergolas of artist Charles Daudelin and plenty of green space, past Square Saint-Louis, which  provides a unique example of mid-19th-century Victorian-style urban architecture and has been home to many of Québec’s artists, including the poet, Émile Nelligan. The street adopted its commercial vocation at the turn of the 20th century. More than a hundred different businesses contribute to the unique mixture of restaurants, cafés, bistros and boutiques.
