YATAI MTL is a popular 4 days event that celebrates Japanese culture and its street food. The event has 3 components: a street food zone, an exhibitor zone and a cultural zone. It is an opportunity to celebrate the beauty of Montreal's cultural diversity and the way communities live together. The Yatai is the name of the itinerant stand in Japan, a tradition that dates back to the Edo period in the 1630s. This ancient practice is still very popular with the Japanese people during the summer festivals (Matsuri), near the temples, along the rivers or at the exit of the offices.
