Wearing our Identity. The First Peoples Collection

Understand the importance of clothing in the development, preservation, and communication of social, cultural, political, and spiritual identities of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities. Beyond the primary function of protection, clothing informs the viewer of the age and status of an individual, reveals at a simple glance the nation to which he or she belongs, recognizes outstanding personal achievements, or highlights the link between humans and nature.
