Even as generations pass, our cultural and physical origins haunt us as we are drawn back with curiosity to where we began. With this group exhibition, The Phi Foundation for Contemporary Art presents the prismatic and complex mean of diaspora, the strength of cultural identity, even generations removed, and the power of kinship, all expressed through art by artists from a multitude of backgrounds.
This selection of works addresses questions of diaspora from diverse perspectives, methodologies and aesthetic languages, all using painting, with its rich history, as the perfect lens through which to explore and discuss this fascinating subject.
