Created by Benjamin Kamino with contributions from performers, Real's fiction \ dissonant_pleasures explores “how close can we come without consolidating into one-ness?” through an inspired storytelling, noise/listening, dance and choreography.
This performance is but a song that we must sing in order to be together. It is intentionally simple for even the most musically-timid to sing along and requires us to listen to each other. The room listens to us speak. It captures our whispers and secrets and redistributes them elsewhere. The floor invites us to lie.
Real's fiction \ dissonant_pleasures is an attempt to enliven several years conceptual research by Kamino. Namely, the idea of the choreographic surface which stands as a theoretical undoing of the liminal space between what is real and what is not yet real.
