When it comes to fusing creativity with technology, Montréal ranks among the world's top cities as a digital arts capital. This event celebrates the latest local and international innovations in high-tech art, video games, visual effects and virtual reality.

In partnership with local arts and culture organizations, this citywide event promises to free our minds and bodies with interactive exhibitions, audiovisual performances and other creations that cross artistic, technological and scientific currents. A bonus: many of the activities are free. Here are some of the highlights of the 2019 edition:

  • Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium multimedia shows immerse us on a journey through the universe in the planetarium's two domes.
  • The Horrifically Real Virtuality at the Phi Centre is an interactive theatrical VR experience based on a comedic homage to filmmaker Ed Wood, on until April 28.
  • 21 Balançoires (21 Swings) lets everyone make music together just by swinging – find these colourful swings outside Place des Arts from April 8 to May 29. Nearby, the spiral staircase of Our DNA embodies the heritage of Montréal neighbourhoods.
  • Chromatic Festival creates a lively art exhibition-meets-party atmosphere with live street art, late-night parties and more from May 10 to 17.
  • C2 Montréal expands the concept of a commerce-focused conference to encompass new realms of creativity in business, featuring big names and big ideas from May 22 to 24.
  • < MTL > connect: Digital Week includes conferences, panel discussions and installations, from May 25 to June 2, focused on the impact of digital intelligence in several sectors.
  • Eureka! Festival is a science festival for curious minds of all ages featuring thought-provoking demonstrations, workshops, performances and more from June 7 to 9.
