For many of us, fashion is an extension of who we are as people and a culture. Parachute, founded in Montréal in 1977 by designer Nicola Pelly and architect Harry Parnass, has been at the forefront of the international fashion scene since its inception. This exhibition highlights Parachute’s androgynous and daring creations while retracing it’s transformation into boundary-pushing, powerhouse designer brand.
With a star studded celebrity clientele including Madonna, Duran Duran and Peter Gabriel, the fashion label began as an inspiration of New Wave subculture and grew into a designer brand with shops opening across North America in Montréal, New York and Los Angeles.
Parachute has thrived by creating avant-garde clothing with the ambition to change mentalities and shake up the status quo.
