Midsummer Night Dreams - Les Grands Ballets Canadiens
Festivals and events Montréal
Choreographed by acclaimed dance artist Guillaume Côté, "Midsummer Night Dreams" by Les Grands Ballets Canadiens brings Shakespeare's timeless comedy into the present. Set over a weekend wedding celebration, the work begins in harmony before descending into confusion. Four young lovers find their relationships tested by a mischievous spirit and a powerful love potion. As the night unfolds, the natural world gives way to enchanted, dreamlike chaos. Côté raises a universal question: what becomes of love as time passes? Through dance, he explores the fissures of intimacy, the wear of relationships, and the fragility of human connection. The score blends romantic and contemporary influences, while the staging drifts from realism to reverie.
