Marisol: a retrospective is an exhibit presented at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts that celebrates the life and work of Marisol, a Parisian artist born to Venezuelan parents. Having attended the Académie Julian and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris she soon relocated to New York in the 1950s where she developed an interest in sculpture.
In addition to Marisol’s artwork, this retrospective exhibition includes examples of the artist’s source materials, influences, sketches, studies and personal photographs, shedding light on her working methods as well as her everyday life.
