L'Orestie
Festivals and events Montréal
A monumental reimagining of Aeschylus’s trilogy, this adaptation directed by Alice Ronfard brings together more than thirty performers and three musicians in a bold, choral form. Opening the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde’s season, “L’Orestie” traces a decisive turning point in human history—when justice shifted from the realm of the gods to the hands of humankind. Through this vibrant ensemble work, a powerful chorus gives new voice to an ancient text that invites us to reflect on the origins of democracy and its relevance today. Presented in French.
