In the summer, Montréal becomes the epicentre of the hard rock universe with the arrival of the HEAVY MONTRÉAL music festival, the premiere Canadian destination for fans of hard rock and metal.

There are as many variants of metal — black, death, doom, industrial, sludge, speed, grind core, progressive, hardcore, metalcore, melodic, thrash and so on and so forth — as there are types of metal fans, and nowhere pulls them all together for a wilder ride than HEAVY MONTRÉAL. Since its inception in 2008, the festival has welcomed hundreds of thousands of metal fans for heavy rock royalty such as Metallica, System of a Down, Marilyn Manson, Iron Maiden, Korn, Mötley Crüe, Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, KISS and Mastodon, to name but a very few. The largest heavy music event in the country, HEAVY MONTRÉAL takes place in Parc-Jean-Drapeau on Île Ste-Hélène, a short metro ride from downtown Montréal, and features multiple stages, a wide array of metal-themed activities, diverse food and drink choices and a welcoming atmosphere. Added bonus: the festival is an all-ages event and little headbangers aged 10 and under are admitted for free but must be accompanied by an adult.

More than 50 bands have been booked for the 2019 edition of HEAVY MONTRÉAL, including thrash metal legends Slayer (playing their final concert ever in Québec after nearly 30 years onstage), the “Nameless Ghouls” of Sweden’s Ghost, veteran “metallists” Godsmack, the Amy Lee-led Evanescence and iconic rockers Anthrax. And special this year is the addition of the HEAVY RETROSPECTIVE, celebrating 10 years of the festival with an exhibition of concert photos and original art.
