Corridart on the Big Screen: A Story of Art Censorship

Festivals and events Montréal

Explore the Corridart affair through an exhibition and two documentary screenings by multidisciplinary artist Bob McKenna. Dismantled during the night of July 13, 1976, the open-air art exhibition presented on Sherbrooke Street became one of the most significant episodes of artistic censorship in Québec. From 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the public is invited to visit the temporary exhibition Corridart: The Exhibition That Disappeared Overnight, presented on the MEM’s Clotheslines. Screenings take place at 7:00 p.m.: À propos de l’affaire Corridart (2002) on Thursday, May 21, and the premiere of the new documentary Creativity Is Freedom on Friday, May 22. Each screening will be followed by a discussion.
