Butterflies Go Free

Annually in February

Science and nature
Le Quartier Olympique

For over 20 years, thousands of multicoloured butterflies dart about Montréal’s Botanical Garden in the Butterflies Go Free exhibit, a highly-anticipated annual occurrence that marks the onset of spring.

Every year, the main exhibition greenhouse transforms into an extravagant butterfly conservatory. Set amidst a lush, natural setting, those nature's masterpieces flit, flutter and sometimes land on visitors, much to their delight!

A popular outing for families, Butterflies Go Free offers the chance to experience the poetry and learn about the science behind these winged marvels. A 10-minute guided activity is offered in the greenhouse every hour, letting you in on everything you ever wanted to know about lepidopterans and more!
