Koomuatuk Sapa Curley's "Animism Today" exhibition brings together a new series of stone sculptures. The artist draws inspiration from the Inuit belief that all beings and things possess an interconnected spirit — a perspective he considers essential for restoring balance in our relationship with the living world. When he carves, he reconnects with childhood memories of the land, seeking to express not only the appearance of Arctic animals but also their movement and vital energy. A member of the renowned Ashoona family, he has been carving since a young age and now combines Inuit traditions with contemporary tools to develop a realistic and highly personal style.
