Saint-Denis Street – from Viger Square to Saint-Louis Square
Culture, arts and heritage Downtown - Quartier des spectacles
Saint-Denis Street is the Quartier Latin’s main artery. It runs north from Old Montréal, starting near the redeveloped Square Viger, with its Jean-Olivier monument, park pavilion, Charles Daudelin pergolas and generous green space. Farther along, it passes Square Saint-Louis, a rare example of mid-19th-century Victorian urban architecture and a former home to many Québec artists, including poet Émile Nelligan. Saint-Denis Street became a commercial hub at the turn of the 20th century. Today, more than 100 businesses shape its distinctive mix of restaurants, cafés, bistros and boutiques.
