Nothing says winter in Montréal like strapping on a pair of blades and skating outdoors… and what wonderful place in the city to do just that than at the Old Port of Montréal ice skating rink!
With the twinkling lights of Old Montréal on one side and the snowy St. Lawrence River on the other, skaters glide blithely about, some spinning gracefully, others just trying to stand up. Music and laughter fill the air in this picturesque setting that seemingly jumped right out of a storybook. Come evening, exceptional lighting envelops the rink in a magical glow.
With two well-maintained ice surfaces – one natural, the other refrigerated – there’s more than enough room for beginners and experienced skaters alike. Skate rentals are available on-site.
When it’s time to give those tired ankles a rest, the Bistro Bonsecours offers a welcome respite from the wintry air.
A jam-packed program of events and activities all winter long features holiday time fireworks with Fire on Ice, DJ on Ice, Company Le Patin Libre (contemporary dance on ice) and even Karaoke on Ice, so you can sing as you skate. This is one festive scene you won’t want to miss!
