Summer oases in the heart of the island

Likes romantic walks on Mount Royal, long-distance cycling, beard oil products and antique travel guides. Has a bad habit of falling in love with men in vintage photographs who are certainly long dead. If he could be anything, he’d live his life as a professional flâneur. Until then, he spends his time writing, making music, and wandering.

Once summertime hits in Montréal, locals take to the city from morning to night, gathering on terrasses, kicking back in parks with friends and enjoying the warm days late into the evening. And this summer, the Quartier des spectacles and Downtown Montréal are unveiling 11 eye-popping Oasis rest areas created by local designers throughout the heart of the city perfect for grabbing a moment of shade, upping the levels of FOMO on your Instagram or a restful spot to enjoy a bite and take in daily performances. Perfect for urbanists, design lovers and people-watching, these new installations are part of the city’s Les aventures du cœur de l’île roster of summer programming in Montréal’s bustling core that runs from June 4 until late autumn, 2021

Oases in the heart of the city

Emerging out of the Covid-19 pandemic, the city’s streets have been gradually rejuvenated with cultural hot spots and neighbourhoods reopening just in time for summer. Linked by a walking route, you won’t want to miss any of the 11 Oasis rest zones throughout the area.
