Despite the many challenges we’re facing this year, we can still experience a little holiday magic! XP_MTL launched their new initiative, Odyssée, le grand réconfort, to make downtown Montréal shine, in every sense of the word. Explore the giant installations adorning our beloved Sainte-Catherine Street and get into the spirit of the season!

WALK IN A WINTER WONDERLAND

First stop: The giant christmas tree

For many people, there’s no greater symbol of the holidays than a beautiful Christmas tree, all decorated and illuminated with twinkling lights. And when you go downtown this season, you can marvel at the giant Christmas tree that forms an arch over Sainte-Catherine Street – and maybe snap a selfie or two as you do your holiday shopping.

Second stop: The nutcrackers

Two gigantic 30-foot nutcrackers stand at attention to welcome you to the heart of the city. You’ll find yourself humming Tchaikovsky's music from the iconic ballet! These colourful sentries are sure to amaze everyone from the very youngest to the young at heart.

Mirror, mirror, who has the prettiest window of all?

As you stroll along Sainte-Catherine Street, watch for the beautiful window displays set up by local businesses to add to the festive atmosphere.  They are part of a fun and friendly contest to see who will be voted the most beautiful window display. For more info and the list of participating stores, go to XP_MTL’s website – and don’t forget to vote for your favourite window on the XP_MTL Facebook page.

Things are very different this year, but it's up to all of us to brighten the season with our hopes and our smiles. What better way to lift our spirits than with a walk in the fresh air along Sainte-Catherine Street? Come and enjoy all the sparkling winter activities downtown and in the Quartier des Spectacles, and fill your heart with the magic of the holidays.
