The Francos de Montréal are finally back

Jani relishes life’s little pleasures, especially those she can share with others. She and her trusty runners regularly take to the city’s streets in search of new things to see, eat and tell stories about! Between film sessions, she channels her creative energy into the written word. 

This coming September 9 to 12, Montrealers will be reunited with their favourite event, the Francos de Montréal. This means you can look forward to free shows, tons of fun and artists that can’t wait to perform live onstage. And if your French could use a refresh, what better way than through music and song? Consider this an excellent chance to expand your linguistic and cultural horizons at the world’s biggest francophone music event, right here in Montréal.  

A new format, but same DNA

Downtown offered a very cool roster of fun this summer and it’s going to stay that way into September with the return of this major music happening. And even though this 32nd edition of the Francos de Montréal will be on a smaller scale (it will last 3 days) and in a different time slot (usually, it’s held mid-June), the program, of course, will feature a diverse line-up of quality performances. Seeing many local artists perform onstage might just create some pretty magical moments.

A program you can dive into

For this long-awaited party, festivalgoers can enjoy an array of artists as well as two giant outdoor stages that will be set up on the Place des Festivals and Le Parterre (in front of La Maison symphonique).

The sensational rapper Sarahmée will get everybody grooving when she performs songs for the first time ever from her latest album, due to drop on September 3. If you’ve never been to any of her shows before, here’s an excellent chance to fall under the spell of her beats.

The combo Koriass & FouKi will be performing songs from their popular album Génies en herbe for the first time live. This dynamic duo promises to deliver a mind-blowing experience.  

The unique Klô Pelgag will be performing songs from her newest album Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs. True to style, she’ll also have a few surprises in store for the crowd, along with her signature visual dazzle.

The colourful Bleu Jeans Bleu will be performing their Spécial Carte Bleue show with tons of specials guests joining them onstage. They will definitely get the party started!

Calamine and Jérôme 50 will also be treating audiences to their amazing talent and energy. And the vibrant Amay Laoni will be giving props to pop music when she hits the stage.

Lastly, you can also look forward to moving performances from the intercultural project Nikamu Namuitun, an inclusive celebration of works by the following eight Indigenous non-Indigenous artists: Matiu, Karen Pinette-Fontaine, Scott Pien-Picard, Ivan Boivin, Marcie, Cédrik St-Onge, Chloé Lacasse and Joëlle Saint-Pierre.
