When speaking of contemporary dance in Québec, the Agora de la danse is inevitably part of the conversation. For more than 25 years, this leading contemporary dance venue has established itself as a thriving arts centre showcasing the creativity, experimentation, and innovation of Montréal's contemporary dance scene.
At the forefront of new dance creation and presentation, the Agora has contributed largely to Québec’s cultural landscape through the development of avant-garde dance projects, exchanges with international troupes and support of local choreographers. Season after season, national and international performances grace the Agora stage.
Now, the Agora is rightfully established in the Wilder Building in the heart of Montréal’s Quartier des spectacles entertainment district, opening the door to new and exciting possibilities, from free live performances, unconventional interaction with the public and architectural video projections.
The Agora offers a full calendar of dance-related activities targeting young audiences all year long, and inviting the public to interact with contemporary dance in new ways. From behind-the-scenes peeks to open rehearsals to movement workshops to studio chats with performers, the Agora makes contemporary dance accessible and exciting for all.
