Located downtown, Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) is a French-language university renowned the world over for the quality of its academic programs, its research rooted in social concerns, and its innovations in creativity.
UQAM offers nearly 300 programs of undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate study, as well as a vast selection of courses for non-program students. It also offers customized training, both credited and non-credited, for adults in the job market. Considered a beacon of academic excellence both locally and abroad, UQAM welcomes over 40,000 students, of which over 3,800 come from 95 countries.
From May to August, UQAM offers intensive French and English immersion programs for all levels. What’s more, its “city and region” immersion programs offer the chance to visit Montréal and the Bas-Saint-Laurent region for an enriching learning experience.
The beating heart of the Quartier Latin, the UQAM campus was designed to harmoniously integrate surrounding heritage buildings, including the neo-gothic Saint-Jacques church bell tower as part of the Judith-Jasmin Pavilion and the former neo-classic École Polytechnique building, now the Athanase-David Pavilion.
In addition to classroom facilities, UQAM houses a contemporary art gallery (Galerie de l'UQAM, 1400 Berri St., local J-R120) and a design centre (Centre de design, 1440 Sanguinet St.) dedicated to showcasing design in its myriad forms: architectural, industrial, graphic, urban and fashion.
