Museum of Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal

Tucked within the heart of the Basilica, the Museum of Saint-Joseph’s Oratory showcases countless sacred works of religious, historical, and artistic heritage from Québec and abroad. This hidden jewel of a museum invites visitors to discover, reflect and open their hearts to a greater understanding.

The Museum’s internationally renowned collection of crèches treats visitors to a privileged glimpse of nativity scenes from around the world.

The Museum Collection – The Crèches of Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal permanent exhibition includes traditional representations as well as more surprising designs, such as a marionette theatre. Works by Québec artists the likes of André Bergeron, Sylvia Daoust, Claude Lafortune, Keena and Rose-Anne Monna make up an important part of the display.

The second permanent exhibition A World in a Crèche features a hundred crèches and representations of the Nativity from as many countries across the five continents.

After admiring the collections, young visitors – and the young at heart – are invited to let their inspiration and creativity flow and express themselves freely in the Museum’s interactive workshop space.
