Come August, love is in the air in Montréal…alongside aces, deuces and volleys at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers, a prestigious annual tennis tournament. A beloved event on the WTA schedule, the tournament attracts tennis legends and those who are soon to be.
This high-profile event occurs simultaneously in Montréal and Toronto, with the best men’s and women’s players in the world playing at the same time, during the same week.
Champions the likes of Serena Williams, Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, Monica Seles, Andre Agassi, John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl, Roger Federer and Steffi Graf have graced – and dominated – the National Bank Open courts.
Running since 1881, only Wimbledon and the U.S. Open have longer histories than this major Canadian stop, known to be one of the best-run tournaments on the Tour.
In 2021, the Montréal tournament is thrilled to welcome the WTA athletes at Jarry Park. New Canadian phenom, Bianca Andreescu, will be up front and centre for the first time at IGA Stadium, vying to retain her Banque Nationale Open Cup Champion title following her stunning 2019 victory against Serena Williams.
