Annually in September
Passion, fashion and kink-themed late-night parties are the order of the day when fetish lovers from around the world jet in for the Montréal Fetish Weekend, Canada’s largest international fetish gathering. Attendees come from as far away as Japan and Germany to taste what Montréal has to offer.
A grand celebration of alternative lifestyles held over seven days and nights, this annual festival features cosplay, workshops, kink expos, a vendors fetish fair, fashion shows, late-night parties and all kinds of fantasy adventures.
The Montréal Fetish Weekend is a community-oriented event that welcomes all genders, body types and sexual orientations. Festival organizers also go the extra mile to make first-time attendees feel at ease.
Montréal has always been a very accepting city, so it comes as no surprise that Montréal Fetish Weekend each year presents outdoor events that enlighten and provoke the general public, notably the festival’s colourful Mode en Folie street fair and hugely popular Fetish Photo Walk.
Highlights of the 2019 edition include the annual KABARET KINK (August 29) at Montréal’s iconic Café Cléopatra (1230 Saint-Laurent Boulevard), a show bar since 1895 and the last hold-out from Montréal’s fabled Sin City-era red-light district.
This year’s colourful Mode en Folie street fair (August 31) will be hosted by Montréal burlesque queen Velma Candyass and will showcase Shibari presentations (Shibari is an ancient Japanese artistic form of rope bondage), street fashion shows and fetish presentations on Sainte-Catherine Street in the heart of Montréal’s Gay Village.
The annual Fetish Photo Walk (September 1) will feature participants dressed in full-fetish regalia. The two-hour tour will visit some of Montréal’s most picturesque hotspots. Be prepared for bystanders taking photos, as well as snapping selfies with tour participants.
