Contemporary art biennale devoted to the image (formerly Le Mois de la photo), MOMENTA aims to generate a sensitive and sensible impact on the world around us by means of images. The event implements unifying and structuring initiatives for art dissemination and education, to encourage reflection on and access to contemporary art.
Under the theme of The life of things, the 16th edition of MOMENTA brings together 39 artists from 20 countries, in 13 exhibitions. Casting a critical gaze at the issues of consumption that characterize contemporary life, the biennale examines the excessive production that redefines the limits of the object. MOMENTA 2019 addresses the relationships built between individuals and their environment, highlighting the transfers that occur between subject and object. The biennale is divided into four thematic components:
- Cultural Objects and Material Culture
- Thingified Beings or Humanized Objects
- The Absurd as Counter-Narrative of the Object
- Still Life in an Age of Environmental Crisis
The artistic program is enriched by a myriad of educational activities, creative workshops, and guided tours. To these are added lectures and roundtables to stimulate in-depth interests and further knowledge about the artists.
