Every winter, visitors and moviegoers converge on the largest celebration of Québec filmmaking in the country. With hundreds of films, wild nights, and a multitude of activities in the company of the most inspiring directors and actors from here and elsewhere, this is a worthwhile rendezvous!
For this 2019 edition, festivalgoers can look forward to a grandiose opening night on the signature blue carpet featuring, as the opening feature, Avant qu’on explose, a coming-of-age comedy by Québec director Rémi St-Michel. It’s only one of the 80 premieres presented among this edition’s 300-plus films, including fictional features, documentaries, short films and more, presented in French, English, and other languages with subtitles.
In addition to the films, the 2019 edition presents a rich programming of lectures, master classes, a film concert to accompany the documentary Des histoires inventées by Jean-Marc E. Roy, digital art including six virtual reality experiences and three interactive installations, as well as cocktail parties galore and nine festive nights, among them the popular cabaret by Jean-Sébastien Girard – a festival fixture. Bon cinéma – and much more!
