June 10: official Portugal Day ceremony, at Portugal Park (corner of Saint-Laurent and Marie-Ann).
This public-access outdoor festival spotlights Portuguese language, culture and cuisine. It is undoubtedly the most representative meeting of Portuguese speakers and the most significant in the promotion of the Portuguese language and culture in Montréal. The festival’s program creates an intercultural space of exchange, discovery and sharing.
Thanks to its former colonies (Brazil, Goa, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé e Príncipe and Macau), the Portuguese language now occupies the 5th place in the list of the most spoken mother tongues in the world and 3rd place in the list of the main languages ??of international communication, after Spanish and English.
Each year, the festival welcomes ambassadors of Portuguese-speaking music to the main stage, with artists joining from Montreal, Canada and the world. In a festive atmosphere, come and enjoy some of the most famous Portuguese gastronomic specialties and the kids are guaranteed to enjoy the festival’s mascot, the Portuguese rooster.
Everyone is invited to come and celebrate Portuguese Culture. Viva.
Enjoy the best of Montréal
