La Dame aux camélias - Les Grands Ballets Canadiens
Festivals and events Montréal
Inspired by Alexandre Dumas fils's celebrated novel, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens presents "La Dame aux camélias", tracing the tragic destiny of Marguerite Gautier, a courtesan who dares to believe in sincere love when she meets Armand Duval, only to be condemned by social conventions. Canadian choreographer Peter Quanz crafts a grand two-act narrative ballet where intimacy and tragedy intertwine. Dance becomes a language of desire, love, and sacrifice through refined neoclassical choreography. Sets and costumes evoke the understated elegance of nineteenth-century Paris, while the musical score draws from the romantic repertoire to create a soundscape of profound emotional intensity.
