Alice in Wonderland - Les Grands Ballets Canadiens
Festivals and events
Revealing a distinctly neoclassical voice, “Alice in Wonderland” marks André Santos’s first creation for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. Drawing on Lewis Carroll’s two novels, the ballet weaves a nuanced journey where the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, and Tweedledee and Tweedledum guide a heroine in transformation. Far from passive, she moves through a shifting, three-dimensional world that is both dreamlike and disorienting. Set to an original symphonic score by Montréal composer Airat Ichmouratov, the work explores growth, perception, and the instability of meaning.
