Musée des Pompiers de Montréal
Culture, arts and heritage Plateau-Mont-Royal and Mile End
The Musée des pompiers de Montréal tells the story of fire safety in the city and how firefighting has evolved over time. Run by volunteers from the Montréal Auxiliary Firefighters, this heritage site brings together fire protection equipment, including hand pumps, an 1887 steam pump, period tools, photo archives and a miniature alarm centre. A memorial wall honours members of the Montréal Fire Department who died in the line of duty. This educational visit traces the shift from horse-drawn vehicles to modern emergency response and highlights the essential role of emergency personnel.
