Quaint streets
Downtown

One of the city’s longest streets, Sherbrooke Street winds its way past specialty shops, designer boutiques, art galleries, antique stores and trendy restaurants. Artsy, posh, convenient, charming…Sherbrooke Street West has a character and a history all its own.

Once home to Montréal’s well-to-do, Sherbrooke Street West is a showcase of splendid early 20th century architecture. Expansive Victorian-style homes, luxurious apartment buildings, hotels, historic properties and businesses line this busy thoroughfare in the Golden Square Mile district, with the most renowned being the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts. Historically English-speaking, the neighbourhood features Victorian-style facades, a nod to past British influence.

West of the downtown core, this commercial artery offers a wealth of luxurious and unique finds in an array of high-end boutiques. In fact, with so many things to see and do in the area, many a visitor exiting the museum has been known to while away the hours strolling down Sherbrooke Street West, making all sorts of discoveries along the way. Just off Sherbrooke Street West, many of Québec’s leading fashion designers have set up shop on nearby de la Montagne and Crescent streets.
