Nagano Conducts Bach’s Christmas Oratorio

Festivals and events

“Nagano Conducts Bach’s Christmas Oratorio” presents selections from Johann Sebastian Bach’s celebrated work through the first three cantatas of the “Christmas Oratorio”. Written for the winter of 1734 in Leipzig, the music brings together choir, soloists, trumpets and timpani in a score shaped by both jubilation and reflection. Nearly three centuries later, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) and the OSM Chorus perform “Jauchzet, frohlocket!”, “Und es waren Hirten” and “Herrscher des Himmels”, joined by four soloists. Conducted by Kent Nagano, the concert also marks the 20th anniversary of the Festival International Bach Montréal.
