Les touristes - Elisabeth Buffoli

Public art

This public artwork, offered by the City of Paris for Montréal's 375th anniversary, was realized by the artist in 1989. The sculptures represent five characters and a dog, in a scene "inspired by everyday life, that of the western urbanity where its subjects relate to the neighbourhood life of a large city." The park where it is installed evokes both the first French settlers in Montréal and the modernity and continuity of this relationship between the French-speaking metropolis of America and the French-speaking metropolis of Europe.
