Open since 2007, in the heart of Montréal’s Rosemont neighbourhood, Madre sur Masson is a modern French-Latin bistro highlighting the creative cuisine of Chef Mario Navarrete. South American flavours the likes of lime, chilies and sweet potato deliciously converge with local produce such as Québec veal or Montérégie potatoes. Warm cornbread, fresh from the oven, complements a range of signature dishes, including grilled calamari, tuna ceviche and scallop tiratido, a Peruvian dish of raw fish in a spicy sauce.
It’s not just the food that keeps people coming back to this happening bistro: Madre sur Masson is like coming home to Mom (or “madre”) for a delicious, homecooked meal. Warm hospitality and courteous service in a laid-back atmosphere make Madre sur Masson a wonderfully unpretentious place to enjoy Peruvian fare.
The bright and simple dining room features wooden tables, comfy chairs and large chalkboards on the wall to display what’s on the menu that day. The bistro can welcome groups of up to 40 guests and can be reserved in its entirety for private functions.
