The Olympic Park is home to the Sports Centre, which sits below the Montréal Tower. Former site of aquatic events during the ’76 Olympic Games, the Sports Centre has since undergone a major overhaul. It now sets an international standard for amateur and elite athletic training with first-rate facilities and state-of-the-art equipment.
The Sports Centre welcomes all, from seasoned athletes to families looking to stay active, in addition to hosting world-class competitions, such as the FINA World Diving Series each spring. Visitors can take advantage of the gym and swimming pools, as well as a wading pool and play area for those still learning to swim.
Nearby, Place Nadia Comaneci, named after the Roman gymnast and star of the ’76 Olympic Games, is located between the Biodôme and the Olympic Stadium’s tower. To honour the Olympic legacy, the plaza features an Olympic flag and group of gold rings that, when viewed from the Tour de Montréal observation deck, depict the Olympic logo down below.
